2013 FLL Summer Camp

HOWDY FLLers!  Welcome to the Oxford Robotics Summer Camp.  We are proud to offer our 2nd Annual Summer Camp program in 2013 beginning August 5th through the 8th.  We sincerely hope that you will join us on our fun filled journey to knowledge of building and programming the NXT Mindstorms for FLL.

We are offering two programs this year, Fundamentals & Advanced.  Our Fundamentals program will be held from 9AM to 12PM and the Advanced from 1PM to 4PM beginning August 5th through the 8th.  The two levels of curriculum will allow us to focus on your areas of interest and get you more out of the program by avoiding covering topics that are not appropriate based on your specific skill level.  In both programs we will be working in small teams of 2 students, maximizing your exposure to hands on labs while providing support of a team mate as well as access to our experienced mentors.  Our mentors are experienced coaches with assistance from our High School Students in the FTC Program.  You will be surrounded by people that can help you work through your questions related to all aspects of the FLL program and the NXT Mindstorms system.

If you are just starting out and not sure how to begin, our Fundamentals in Programming is just right for you.  Here we will focus on the basics of both mechanical design concepts as well as programming in the Mindstorms NXT development environment.  You will learn how to effectively design your robot for optimal performance on the field and the basics for navigation and control in programming.  We will work our way up to programming with sensors including a basic line follower program utilizing the light or color sensor.

Already have the basics down?  Already have some experience with programming and build?  Then our Advanced Programming is the program for you.  We will be diving deep into advanced programming concepts and applying them directly to the goal of advanced robot control.  You will learn and work with nesting switches for advanced logic operations, parallel program execution and inter-process communications, and of course all things sensors!  We will do extensive work with the light/color sensors as well as the ultrasonic and touch.  We will learn how to accurately navigate the field over long missions enabling you to combine more missions into single programs and drastically increase your success rate.

Remember, whether you choose Fundamentals or Advanced you get out of it what you put into it.  We will have lots of fun on our journey to robotics knowledge, but you will have to work to get the most out of our programs.  Some of our fun challenges will be a robot relay, slalom course racing, and several fun team oriented competitions.

Sign up NOW... Seats are limited for each program.  We will only have 20 seats for each program and they will be given on a first come basis.  We look forward to learning with you!
